Santa Rosa in the Peruvian Amazon

Santa Rosa is a small island in the middle of the Peruvian Amazon. Residents are very poor, but they manage to make modest profits by exporting natural resources like timber and jungle fruit at nearby river ports. I took this shot of the loading docks at sunset during the day’s last shipment.

Ramona Flume is an insatiable world traveler who has spent the past two summers exploring her favorite country, Colombia, alone and armed only with her notebook and film cameras.
