Abdest (Arabic: لوضوء) is Turkish for the Islamic act of purification for prayers. Often translated as “partial ablution”, it’s a sacred ritual in which parts of the body are washed in preparation to appear before God. This travel photo was captured between calls to prayer outside the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey with an Olympus C-770UZ.
